Vitamania: The Sense and Nonsense of Vitamins

Posted by on Apr 3, 2018 in Projects

This year the world will spend $100 billion on vitamins and supplements. Every week, a new benefit is claimed. At the same time, vitamin pills are dismissed as a waste of money and their spruikers condemned as snake-oil sellers. Many doctors claim that most vitamin products are useless, while some are positively harmful. Others point to research that shows dietary supplements can be lifesavers. All of this is confusing.

In a world where even the scientists disagree, how do we decide whether to take them, or not? How do we separate the sense from the nonsense? Dr Derek Muller takes us on an epic journey, a world-spanning investigation of vitamin science and history from molecules to marketing, from colds to chemotherapy. What he uncovers will confound opinions on all sides.

Launching mid-2018
