JABBED ★★★★
'Dramatic in its own way - and only in a good way - is this film from Emmy-winning director Sonya Pemberton. Australian-made but taking an international perspective, this measured, intelligent documentary brings a welcome voice of reason to the vaccination debate. Anyone who is interested in the subject is already acquainted with the nuts and bolts, and those matters are certainly touched on (the resurgence of common diseases such as measles and whooping cough; common concerns about vaccination). But blessedly little time is spent rehashing old news. Instead, we get a fascinating excursion into the history of vaccination and the anti-vaccination movement; a useful explanation of how the immune system - and immunisation - works; a frank admission that vaccination is not 100 per cent safe; and, best of all, the actual science behind adverse reactions to vaccines. Must-see viewing for any parent or prospective parent, regardless of your position.'
