Genepool's Sonya Pemberton shares her insights at Convergence Science network event

Science Convergence Network Event - 9th of May - Meet Emmy award winning science filmmaker Sonya Pemberton as she explores the trials and tribulations of communicating complex - even divisive - science to the public.

From climate change to vaccines to genetically modified organisms and nuclear power – we’re surrounded by facts and figures, claims and counter claims, and it seems we’ve never been more polarised. How can we communicate with those who think differently to us? What are the tools that help build useful conversations around science? Can we move beyond simply preaching to the choir?

Sonya Pemberton works at the curious intersection of science and television, a place where facts and storytelling meet. Writer, director and producer of over sixty hours of international science documentaries and winner of over seventy awards including four Eureka Prizes for Science Journalism, she has spent decades translating science for global audiences. Based in Melbourne, Sonya leads Genepool Productions - specialists in creating quality science documentaries for international television audiences.

Join Sonya as she shares her insights and screens examples from her recent films, including  ‘Vaccines - Calling the Shots’, ‘Uranium - Twisting the Dragon’s Tail’, ‘Jabbed - love, fear and vaccines’ and ‘Catching Cancer’.
