Daniella Ortega joins the Genepool Team
We are thrilled to announce that Daniella Ortega is joining the Genepool team as a creative Producer a position made possible through Screen Australia's Enterprise People funding. Daniella is an award-winning Director and Producer of documentary and factual television with a passion for science storytelling. She has developed, written and directed over 10 hours of documentary television and been responsible for the development of another 5 series which have been produced.
Her latest film 'Enigma Man - A Stone Age Mystery' [produced by Electric Pictures forABC] about the intriguing science of human evolution in Asia was nominated for 2014 Jackson Hole Science Media Award for ‘Best Human and Social Sciences’ film, and was nominated for two Australian Teachers of Media awards winning the 2014 award for ‘Best Docudrama’. Her prize winning episodes of the series 'Whatever! The Science of Teens' [produced by Essential Media for ABC] unravel the mysteries of the teenage brain by combining intimate portraits of teenagers with serious science content. And in 2006 she produced and co-directed the critically acclaimed observational documentary series 'Battle of the Brains' [ABC] about the epic journey of Australia’s best teenage science students to the International Science Olympiad.
As part of Daniella's position she will be responsible for Genepool’s development slate working closely with creative director Sonya Pemberton.
